Day Off Lunch Run 6.30 mil (57 min)

Ok, lets begin by saying; This has been a very, very good day for all of us at home. We all had the day off and enjoyed a nice relaxing Friday. Our day started at 4 am when Joyce and I decided to simply take a long weekend. Went back to sleep and got up at 8 am with Jocelyn in between us..
We were still debating what to have for breakfast when we got the news.. To celebrate, Joyce said that she wanted to cook breakfast. She made Eggs Benedict Joyce's style. They were good man.

After letting the food settle, I got ready to do a quick run. I planned for a quick 3 mile run just to keep the legs loose, but playing with the settings on the treadmill got me interested in doing a 10K (6.2 miles). Let me just say; I am not doing this again for a while.. First 1/2 mile was nice and easy...

6.7 speed (9:57 pace). It then inclined to 2% with a speed of 7.0 (8:34 pace) for the next mile. The dam thing went up to 5% incline and straight up to 8.5 speed (7:04 pace I think). I felt brave and kept at it, but not for long. I was dying, my shirt was soaked in sweat that fast. I got as far as 3 miles before turning off the program and going back to a normal setting. There was no way I was going to do do this run and make it to 6 miles like that.

For the rest of the run, I had the incline set to 0% and the speed set to 7.0 (8.34). I was so tired already that I stopped at every  mile. The first drop on the pic above was cause by me forgetting to pause my Nike+ when I got scared by Jocelyn getting too close to the machine. I am sort of happy with the result but I am I need to get this time down to 50-52 min.

  1. It was a great day indeed, and got to try making eggs benedict. Great climb on the TM for the first half of your run, very nice strong finish.
